'KPop Demon Hunters' Has 3 Songs in the Hot 100 Top 10 and a Sing-Along Tour Starting This Weekend
Netflix's animated musical 'KPop Demon Hunters' is breaking records most people didn't see coming. Three of its songs have cracked the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 simultaneously, a feat no movie soundtrack has pulled off since 1995's 'Waiting to Exhale.' A theatrical sing-along event is now hitting North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand this weekend.

Three songs from a Netflix animated film are sitting in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 at the same time. The last movie to do that was Waiting to Exhale in 1995, before that, Saturday Night Fever in 1977. The film is KPop Demon Hunters, and it's been quietly becoming one of the platform's biggest original film hits since its June debut.

The premise is exactly what it sounds like. An all-girl K-pop group moonlights as demon hunters, protecting their fans from supernatural forces out to consume human souls. The main obstacle: a rival boy band that are actually demons in disguise. It's genre-bait by design, K-pop fandom plus supernatural thriller plus animated musical, and the algorithm clearly approved.
The cast is not messing around. Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Ahn Hyo-seop, Ken Jeong, and Daniel Dae Kim provide the voices. The songs doing the chart damage are "Golden," "Your Idol," and "Soda Pop", all three currently Top 10 on the Hot 100.
Executive music producer Ian Eisendrath told CNN the response caught even the team off guard. "I think you always hope, in a film musical, that maybe one song pops," he said. "But it's been so gratifying to see these songs really hit with the public at large and globally, songs that people are loving inside the film, but also just listening to on Spotify in their cars."
One song popping is a win. Three charting simultaneously is a different conversation entirely.
Netflix is now moving the moment into physical spaces. KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event is reportedly set for theaters across North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand on August 23 and 24. Whether that theatrical push extends the film's cultural shelf life or just serves its existing fanbase is the question, but given the soundtrack numbers, the existing fanbase is clearly large enough to matter.
