Korean webtoon artist and broadcaster Ki An-84 met Tom Cruise in Seoul on the 3rd and handed the Hollywood actor a drawing he had made himself. It was the kind of encounter that tends to happen when a major star lands in a city with a genuinely devoted pop-culture scene: an unexpected, warm exchange that neither side's publicist could have planned.

Ki An-84 posted several photos to his Instagram the same day, captioning them with the Korean phrase "건강하세요, 형님", roughly, "Stay healthy, big bro", a casual, affectionate address that carries more warmth in Korean than a direct translation suggests. The photos show Cruise with his arm around Ki An-84's shoulder, laughing; Ki An-84 is caught mid-cackle beside him. In one image, the two are holding up Ki An-84's drawing together.

The exchange drew a light-hearted comment thread. Actor Lee Si-eon replied asking whether Cruise might be free for dinner, to which Ki An-84 answered that he would have loved to cook for him but Cruise was too busy with his schedule.

Cruise was in Korea to promote Digger, which opened on the 3rd. He had attended a press conference and promotional event on the 1st, where he met with Korean fans and media. Ki An-84's meeting appears to have taken place on the margins of that promotional circuit, the kind of brief but genuinely warm moment that tends to circulate widely because it is so obviously unscripted.
