KiiiKiii's third mini album, WhyKiiiKiii, has been named the most popular Korean album of the third quarter of 2026 on NetEase Cloud Music's official chart, the Chinese streaming platform announced. The honor adds to a run of recognition in China for the group (Jiyu, Isol, Sui, Haum and Kya) that began when the album arrived in August.

The release takes its name from Waikiki, the Hawaiian resort district, and plays on the question "Why KiiiKiii?" The group used it to sharpen its identity and lean into what Korean media call Gen Z-mi, a Gen Z sensibility that runs through the project.

A steady showing across Chinese platforms

The NetEase result follows a strong start at release. WhyKiiiKiii appeared on QQ Music's new release, popular, rising and Korea charts, and reached No. 1 on Kugou Music's Korea chart. Taken together, the NetEase title suggests the response has held up beyond launch week.

International attention predates the album's release. In July, Billboard placed KiiiKiii's "404 (New Era)" at No. 1 on its staff-picked list of the 25 best K-pop songs of 2026 so far. In August, the group also took home a trophy at the TME live International Music Awards 2026, hosted by Tencent Music.

On stage in China, and online every Friday

KiiiKiii also met local fans in person. From the 9th to the 11th, the group performed at the halftime show of the NBA China Games 2026 and at the NBA House Macao 2026 fan festival, bringing their energy to an audience that included many non-music fans.

Away from the stage, the group releases its own web content, KiiiKiii Pang Pang, on its official YouTube channel every Friday at 7 p.m. KST. The series shows the members' lighter, variety-show side and gives fans, who go by the name TIKI, another regular point of contact.
