OMONAR

Japanese actress Miyoshi Ayaka was already generating buzz for her role in Tajja: Belzebub's Song when a clip from an old Japanese variety show started making the rounds online. In it, a fellow panelist asks whether she would be comfortable bathing with her father into adulthood, and Miyoshi answers plainly: she did exactly that until she was 20. She adds that her father is now too shy to continue, though she still sometimes steps into the bathroom with him to wash his hair. It's a candid, distinctly Japanese moment of close family warmth, and Korean audiences who had just watched her command the screen in Tajja 4 were clearly curious to know more about her.

The role that started it all

In Tajja: Belzebub's Song, the fourth installment of the long-running Tajja crime franchise, Miyoshi plays Kaneko, the sharp-edged head of a Japanese corporation with yakuza ties who designs a high-stakes global gambling operation. It is a multilayered villain role, and she leans into it fully, including a topless scene opposite Byun Yo-han that has generated most of the conversation since the film opened on the 23rd.

The film itself follows two men who share a name: Jang Tae-young (Byun Yo-han), who built an online casino empire, and Park Tae-young (Noh Jae-won), his closest friend turned nemesis who strips him of everything. Their reunion across a global gambling table drives the revenge plot. Miyoshi's Kaneko sits at the center of that world, cold and calculating, and the performance lands as a genuine scene-stealer.

Box office and what comes next

Tajja: Belzebub's Song crossed the one million admissions mark on the 30th, eight days after its release, matching the pace set by Yadang, the 2025 adults-only hit that drew 3.38 million total viewers. On the 28th alone, the film brought in 68,913 admissions, pushing it past Assassin(s) to claim the top spot at the box office by its sixth day.

For Miyoshi, the film appears to be a genuine launchpad for a Korean career. In a recent appearance on the YouTube channel Egennnam Swings, she said there are several Korean projects in discussion and that things are "just getting started." She has already been building a profile here: earlier appearances alongside singer Sung Si-kyung on the Netflix food show Crazy Restaurant: A Foodie Friend's Picks were warm enough that dating rumors followed. Sung Si-kyung addressed them directly on his own channel, describing her as genuinely charming but clarifying unambiguously that the two are not romantically involved.

Miyoshi has been modeling and acting in Japan since her teens. Watching her move between the two industries and now into Korean film and entertainment, it feels less like a pivot and more like a natural expansion for someone who has been quietly building range for years.
