NiziU's Sour Grapes Performance Teaser Hints at a Sharper Side Before Sept. 28 Drop

The last time NiziU made a proper Korean comeback, they reached No. 1 on a music broadcast just nine days after debut. Now, ahead of Sour Grapes dropping on September 28 at 6 p.m. KST, JYP Entertainment has released a performance video teaser that suggests the group is ready to raise the stakes again.

The clip is doing real work as a preview. Big, sweeping movements sit on top of what the teaser describes as a sound that pops like individual grapes bursting, sharp and percussive rather than airy. The members' expressions lean intense, with deliberate eye contact built into the gesture work, and the lighting design draws the frame in rather than opening it up. It reads less like the group's signature bubbly energy and more like a focused, controlled version of it.

First Korean mini album

Sour Grapes marks a genuine milestone: it will be NiziU's first Korean-language mini album. Their previous Korean activity in 2023, centered on the single HEARTRIS, was enough to land them a music show win within two weeks of arrival, which set a high bar for what comes next. JYP's framing around the new album is that it will show a familiar side of the group, that effervescent, vibrant presence that built their Japanese fanbase from the start, delivered with the performance maturity the members have built up through extensive touring and live work since.

NiziU was formed through the joint JYP Entertainment and Sony Music audition program Nizi Project and made their official debut in Japan in December 2020 with Step and a Step. The group spent several years building a devoted following in Japan before expanding their Korean activities with the 2023 Press Play release. That choreography in the new teaser, developed through a run of live performances since then, looks noticeably more confident in how it uses space.

September 28 is the date to mark. The performance video teaser is out now, and based on what's visible in it, the bridge section of Sour Grapes is going to be the moment fans will be replaying.
