Actor Seonghun is stepping back onto the small screen with Boss's Explicit Taste, an MBN romance drama premiering November 11 at 10:20 p.m. KST. It marks his first drama role in three years, and the first stills released on the 28th suggest he was waiting for exactly this kind of part.

Seonghun plays Kwon Do-hyeok, the sole heir to a top-tier chaebol family and the CEO of Oh Yes Entertainment. The character is described as so emotionally detached that colleagues half-joke he is more AI than the AI he actually develops. He is a rigid classical-music purist who cannot stand anything with a human voice in it, which makes the central romance all the more pointed: the woman who upends his life, Indie band vocalist Lee Eun-chae (played by Oh Se-young), is essentially the one category of music he refuses to hear.

The stills

The released photos do a lot of the character-building work on their own. In the formal shots, Seonghun wears a sharp suit with the kind of cold, controlled gaze that communicates Kwon Do-hyeok's logic-first personality without much effort. A second set of images switches to casual styling and noticeably warmer energy, an early hint that the drama will make good use of contrast as the character opens up.

The plot kicks off when Kwon Do-hyeok, facing a corporate crisis, is handed the task of rebuilding the entertainment label by his father, Kwon Tae-woong (played by Park Jeong-hak). It is during that process that Lee Eun-chae enters his life as the one variable his spreadsheet mind cannot account for.

The team behind it

Boss's Explicit Taste is adapted from a Naver web novel and webtoon of the same name by author Sikcreuk. Director Kang Sol, who previously helmed Delivery Man and I Will Travel Instead, is at the helm, with writer Nam Ji-yeon, known for Our Home and So I Married an Anti-Fan, handling the script. The combination of an established webtoon source and a creative team with genre experience puts the show in familiar but dependable territory for fans of cable romance dramas.

The road back

Seonghun built considerable public recognition through his long-running stint on MBC's variety show I Live Alone, but left the program in 2022. Later that same year, a guest appearance on tvN's Waiting Restaurant drew sharp criticism: he made comments about how he personally never waits in line, snapped at MC Park Na-rae on camera, and was filmed eating directly from tongs and shaking sweat from his head at the table. The backlash was swift, and his agency issued an apology acknowledging the behavior had gone too far. His broadcast presence faded significantly after that.

In the years since, Seonghun has kept a relatively low profile, most recently launching an official TikTok account and posting short-form content to stay connected with fans. The Boss's Explicit Taste casting is his most substantial public commitment in that stretch, and the role of a socially exacting CEO who learns to bend feels, whether intentionally or not, like a quietly interesting reintroduction.
