Soyou Used Stock Profits to Buy Her First Home. Inside, There's a Private Sauna.

Sistar's Soyou has given fans a first look at her newly purchased apartment on her YouTube channel, revealing a private sauna, a dedicated workout room, and a home studio. In the same video series, she opened up about a significant shift in her views on marriage and children since her early 20s, tracing the change partly to watching young kids struggle through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sistar's Soyou recently gave fans their first look inside her newly purchased apartment on her YouTube channel Soyugi, and the tour came with a candid set of personal revelations about relationships, marriage, and what she actually wants from the next chapter of her life.

The home itself reflects a decade of deferred wishes. Soyou, who had lived in her previous apartment for six years, described the new space as divided between rooms for receiving guests and rooms built entirely around her own routines.

The first room she showed was fitted with a private sauna. She described the scent of cypress wood filling the space and explained how it fits into her recovery cycle after workouts: a session in the sauna followed by a cold-water rubdown. Her mother, she added, is an equally devoted user. "Once she comes over, she's in there for two hours," Soyou said.

Next was a dedicated fitness room, floored with the 5mm rubber matting used in commercial gyms. Alongside a stair-climber and foam roller, she keeps resistance bands in two firmness levels, and occasionally uses the room to run through choreography when she can't get to a practice studio.

The living room centers on a modular brown sofa that can be reconfigured into a sleeping surface for up to four people, which is why she chose not to build out a separate guest room. She also walked through a dressing room, laundry room, work studio, bathroom, and bedroom.

"I had dreams I couldn't fulfill in my old place," she said. "Now that I'm in my own home, I want only good things ahead."

Funding the purchase involved an unlikely route. About a decade ago, Soyou put roughly 100 million won into Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares with the intention of learning how the stock market worked. She eventually sold the positions and used the proceeds, along with other savings, toward the cost of buying her current home outright.

In a separate video uploaded on the 17th, Soyou answered audience questions about dating and marriage with unusual directness. She described herself as someone who would rather end a relationship the moment infidelity surfaces than live with the uncertainty of not knowing. "I always say: go ahead and cheat. Just get caught," she said, framing it less as a warning than as a statement of her own tolerance threshold.

She then shared that a former boyfriend had, in fact, been unfaithful, though she only found out after the relationship had already ended for a different reason. "There was something that felt off, but I didn't know until after we broke up," she said. Learning later that the infidelity had been more extensive than she realized left her not heartbroken so much as frustrated at the wasted time. "He wasn't a good person. I think about how young I was then," she said, before catching herself and amending her phrasing to something considerably less polite, which drew laughter.

On the broader question of marriage, Soyou described a shift that has been years in the making. At 23, recording Sistar's Give It to Me, she took the lyric about marrying before 30 as a genuine life goal. At the time, she said, her professional ambitions were secondary to becoming a mother. She had researched egg freezing in enough detail to understand the cost, the storage requirements, and the daily self-administered injections involved, the last of which she decided she could not manage.

The turning point came during the COVID-19 period. She was not in a relationship at the time, and watching young children reach for masks before they could go outside unsettled her view of what raising a child would require. "There are so many interesting things in the world, and kids couldn't do any of them," she said. "The thought of bringing a child into that world felt like an enormous amount to take on."

By her early 30s, her position had shifted to something more conditional. "If I'm not going to have children, I don't really want to get married. I'm not sure I could live with one person for the rest of my life," she said. She was careful to note that this isn't a closed door, but a recalibration.

If she does marry, she said, cohabitation beforehand is non-negotiable. Having lived with the Sistar members during their group years and with her older sister at other points, she knows how much friction can come from mismatched daily habits. She cited body temperature as a specific example: someone who runs cold and someone who runs warm sharing a home in winter, with one wanting the heat on full, is a genuine incompatibility she wants to know about before committing.

As for what she looks for in a partner, physical appearance ranked well below self-discipline and shared lifestyle. Fitness matters to her. "If someone tells me they have no interest in exercise, my interest in them goes down," she said. She also clarified an older comment about finding men with well-shaped physiques attractive, saying it was less about a specific feature and more about the overall impression of someone who takes consistent care of themselves.
