BIGBANG stepped back onto a major concert stage on the 21st, opening their 2026–2027 World Tour 'XX : COSMOS' at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province, their first full tour since 2017. The three-night Goyang run (the 21st through the 23rd) kicks off 33 shows across 19 cities worldwide, spanning North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, with additional cities still to be announced.

The timing is deliberate. On the 19th, the group released 'BiiiG', their first new music in approximately four years and four months. It debuted straight to No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 and held the top spot on real-time charts as of the morning of the 21st. G-Dragon led the songwriting and composition, with Taeyang and Daesung's vocals woven throughout, a combination that sounds, in the best way, like a group that has nothing left to prove and knows it. The Goyang shows mark the first time fans will see 'BiiiG' performed live, bringing the music video's choreography to a full stadium stage.

The tour's title carries its own meaning. The 'XX' in XX : COSMOS represents the 20 years since BIGBANG's 2006 debut; Cosmos is framed as both a musical concept and a nod to the ongoing connection between the group and their fanbase, V.I.P. The group leaned into that cosmic theme in the lead-up to the tour, collaborating with science YouTube channel Andoel Science on a 'BIGBANG cosmology' video and being appointed as honorary ambassadors for Korea's newly established aerospace agency. It's an unusually imaginative promotional arc, and it gave the comeback a texture beyond the standard press cycle.

The members were involved in the production at every level, setlist, stage design, and overall direction, which speaks to how seriously they're treating this anniversary. A few details are worth noting for anyone attending. The Bangbong, V.I.P's iconic yellow lightstick, will be in full force; it's widely credited in the industry as the origin of the modern 3D concert lightstick, and G-Dragon is said to have designed its original version himself.

The production team is genuinely impressive. Wow Jones, who has worked with Usher and Post Malone, leads the live band, which will perform the entire set live rather than to backing tracks. Mike Carson, who directed the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, and Es Devlin, the stage designer behind the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony, both contributed to the production. YG Entertainment described a 23-ton moving LED structure using multi-motor torque synchronisation technology to bring the Cosmos concept to life visually, the kind of staging ambition that sets this apart from a standard anniversary tour.

BIGBANG has spent two decades reshaping what a K-pop group can be, building a model of singer-songwriter artistry at a time when the industry's defaults ran in a very different direction. Their 20th year on stage, backed by a No. 1 single and one of the most technically ambitious live productions in K-pop history, suggests they're not slowing down.
