TWICE's Jeongyeon Makes Her Acting Debut 10 Years After K-Pop Stardom

Ten years into her career as TWICE's lead vocalist, Jeongyeon is stepping in front of a movie camera for the first time. Distributor KT Studio Genie confirmed on the 1st that she has been cast in Rookie Cops The Movie: There's a Ghost in the Military Hospital, directed by Min Jin-gi.

The film expands the world of the hit Rookie Cops series onto the big screen, shifting the setting to an army hospital and folding in a supernatural element alongside the series' signature recruit storylines. Jeongyeon will play the role of military nurse Yu Jeongyeon, a character that shares her own name.

A familiar franchise with a fresh face

The rest of the cast leans heavily on Rookie Cops veterans. Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, and Kim Yo-han are all returning, with Ryu Kyung-soo joining as a new addition.

Behind the camera, director Min Jin-gi brings the full weight of the franchise's track record with him. He has helmed all four entries in the Rookie Cops series, and Rookie Cops 4 delivered the highest ratings of any season, suggesting he knows exactly how to balance the ensemble energy the show built its fanbase on.

For longtime ONCE, watching Jeongyeon take on a character role after a decade of leading TWICE's vocal performances will be a genuinely interesting pivot. She has always been the kind of performer whose stage presence is anchored in directness, so it's easy to imagine that quality translating well to screen.

Rookie Cops The Movie: There's a Ghost in the Military Hospital is scheduled to open in theaters this winter.
