BOYNEXTDOOR sold 560,189 copies of HOME: DELUXE within its first day of release on the 28th, landing at #1 on the Hanteo daily physical chart and extending a streak that now reaches back to their very first mini album. Every release the group has put out, from mini albums 1 through 5 to their first full-length HOME and now this deluxe repackage, has debuted at the top of the chart on day one. Seven albums, seven #1s.

The global response came quickly. By 10 a.m. on the 29th, HOME: DELUXE had entered Apple Music's Top Albums chart in 11 countries and regions including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and Turkey, and landed on iTunes Top Albums in four markets including Japan and Russia. Title track ANIMAL entered Melon's Top 100 at #43 at midnight, and by 5 a.m. had climbed to #6 on Line Music Japan's real-time Top 100. In Indonesia, it hit #1 on iTunes Top Songs outright, with the group also charting in four other countries and regions.

What's on the album

HOME: DELUXE packages 14 tracks total, carrying over the nine songs from HOME and adding five new entries. Those additions include ANIMAL, CLICHE, a Korean-language version of Count To Love (previously released in Japan), Boom Boom Boom, and 400 Years, the group's first fan song, which had previously only been shared on YouTube. The album spans electro-funk, disco, and pop ballad territory, with members Myung Jaehyun, Taesan, and Unhak credited on songwriting and composition, and member Lew earning his first official choreography credit.

The group described the repackage as a deliberate tonal shift from the original album. "HOME was a more serious, introspective record, we focused on showing sides of ourselves that people didn't know well," Myung Jaehyun said. "This time we wanted to capture the free-spirited, outgoing side that audiences are already familiar with. We wanted the two sides to coexist in a balanced way."

In a statement from KOZ Entertainment, the group put it plainly: "If the full album was a home we built to reflect who we are, this is the party we're throwing inside it."

Behind ANIMAL

The title track ANIMAL is the group's first foray into electro-funk, and the process was not without friction. Myung Jaehyun described sitting in a studio with Taesan and Unhak with only a beat playing, unable to write a single line, eventually leaving that first session agreeing they needed to study the genre more seriously before trying again.

Taesan traced the song's core concept back to a specific live moment: fan chants from a U.S. tour performance, a call-and-response energy that felt animal in the best way. "I really loved the 'Whop Whop!' fans were shouting during our U.S. shows," he said. "I wanted to get that kind of raw, instinctive sound into the music somehow. The idea of 'animal' just followed from there."

Unhak, for his part, said he wanted the track to feel like an IV drip of energy. "Even just listening to it makes you feel recharged and ready to move," he said. "I kept thinking the whole time we were making it: I cannot wait to perform this."

Lew, who took his first choreography credit here, said the intensity of the track actually pushed him toward restraint in the staging. "The song itself is already so strong," he explained. "If the performance matched that at every moment, audiences might feel like they can't participate. So in the chorus, I gave it some breathing room and added moves that are easy to follow along to, I really hope the chorus choreography catches on as a challenge."

For the music video, member Sungho described filming across multiple locations including Daejeon, Paju, and Incheon to capture a feeling of full-throttle momentum, including scenes running through crowded markets alongside ordinary passersby. "We wanted to express a sense of liberation," he said.

The group said the reaction they're most hoping for is being recognized as a "performance idol", a team that genuinely loves being on stage. "More than anything, the fact that someone is out there waiting for us is something we're always grateful for," they said, addressing their fanbase WOWNER. "It keeps us working harder every single day."
