Boy With Luv just became BTS's fourth single to surpass 1 million cumulative points on Oricon's weekly combined singles chart, making the group the first and only overseas act to hold four such singles on the ranking.

Oricon confirmed the milestone on the 28th. The combined singles chart calculates points from streaming and digital download totals, so hitting seven figures on it reflects sustained listening rather than a single chart spike. Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey), originally released in April 2019 as the title track of the MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA mini-album, has been accumulating quietly for years. It is also approaching 300 million cumulative streams on Oricon's weekly streaming chart.

Four singles and counting

The other three singles in BTS's million-point club are Lights / Boy With Luv, Dynamite, and Butter / Permission to Dance. That last one set an additional benchmark back in February, when it became the first single by an overseas artist to cross 4 million cumulative Oricon points. The group also holds three 100-million-point albums on Oricon's combined album ranking, a separate but equally significant measure of their footprint in the Japanese market.

No other overseas artist has reached the four-single threshold. The record underlines how consistently BTS has performed in Japan across multiple release cycles and genres, from the English-language pop of Dynamite to the bilingual Boy With Luv.

A big week on multiple fronts

The Oricon news lands just days after BTS swept all three of their nominated categories at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, held on the 27th (local time) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The group's fifth studio album title track SWIM won Song of the Year, making BTS the first K-pop group to claim that category. They also took home Best K-Pop and Best Group, the latter being their fifth win in the category, a record they now hold outright, having broken their own previous mark.

Looking ahead, BTS has also been nominated in the Most Popular International Artist category at the 2026 ARIA Awards, Australia's top music industry honors. They will compete against Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Olivia Rodrigo, among others. The ceremony is scheduled for November 18 at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney.
