Gong Hyo-jin has left Seoul. The actor, who married singer Kevin Oh in 2022, confirmed earlier this year that she relocated to Yangpyeong in May, and on the 23rd she gave viewers their first real look at the new home through her YouTube channel, Danghungan Gong Hyo-jin.

The video, titled Gong Hyo-jin and Lee Yeon's Moisture-Filled Yangpyeong Trip, doubles as a casual houseguest diary. Gong invited co-star Lee Yeon to stay overnight, showing her around a space decorated in warm wood tones with what Gong described as an "Eastern aesthetic" running through the second-floor guest room in particular. The house sits low to the surrounding landscape, which Lee noted the following morning over breakfast at a nearby restaurant: "The site feels good. I slept so well. The buildings are low and the weather is just right." Gong's reply was matter-of-fact: "You sleep deeply here. It already feels like you've come to visit a resort."

It is a modest but telling detail about how Gong has framed the move. Seoul's entertainment industry tends to concentrate its talent in a handful of neighborhoods, and relocating entirely to a rural county like Yangpyeong is less common than it sounds. Yangpyeong, roughly an hour east of central Seoul along the Han River, has attracted artists and writers for years, but it remains an unusual choice for a working actor who films and promotes in the capital.

The timing, and the film

The visit also serves a promotional purpose, even if the tone of the video keeps that mostly in the background. Gong Hyo-jin and Lee Yeon are both part of the cast of Gyeongju Giyaeng, which opens on the 26th. The film follows four women, a mother and her three daughters, who set out on a revenge journey after waiting eight years for justice over the youngest daughter Gyeongju, who never returned from a school trip. Gong Hyo-jin, Lee Jeong-eun, Park So-dam, and Lee Yeon star.

Gong married Kevin Oh, a Korean-American singer ten years her junior, in 2022. The Yangpyeong move, four years into the marriage, appears to be a deliberate step toward a quieter day-to-day life outside the capital, with Seoul remaining accessible for work. Lee Yeon's enthusiasm during the visit was clear enough: she mentioned wanting to return for a barbecue party, and said she had been hoping to come for some time. Whether the house becomes a regular gathering spot for the Gyeongju Giyaeng cast remains to be seen, but as a first public look at Gong's new life outside Seoul, the video offers a fairly complete picture.
