Solo Leveling Adds Han So-hee, Rain, and 3 More to a Cast Already Built Around Byeon Woo-seok
Netflix has confirmed the expanded cast for Solo Leveling, its live-action adaptation of the hit webtoon. Han So-hee leads the new additions as the sole female S-rank Hunter, with Rain appearing in a special role.

Netflix has confirmed a full principal cast for Solo Leveling, its live-action series adaptation of the D&C Media IP, adding Han So-hee, Kang Yoo-seok, and Sung Joon in main roles alongside special appearances by Lee Sung-min and Rain (Jung Ji-hoon). The announcement builds on the earlier casting of Byeon Woo-seok in the lead, completing the core lineup for a project that has been closely watched since Solo Leveling first expanded from web novel to webtoon, animation, and video game over the past decade.
The characters and who plays them
Byeon Woo-seok plays Sung Jin-woo, a so-called E-rank Hunter, the lowest tier in a world where trained fighters defend the real world from monsters that pour through dimensional gates. After a near-death experience forces an awakening, Sung Jin-woo begins leveling up beyond any previously known ceiling. The premise is straightforward power-fantasy, but the original webtoon built a substantial global fanbase on the detail of its world-building, which the live-action will now have to render practically: dungeons, monsters, and guild politics included.
Han So-hee takes on Cha Hae-in, described as Korea's ninth S-rank Hunter and the only woman to hold that designation. Her primary weapon is a longsword. For Han So-hee, the role is a logical extension of the action work she has done in My Name and Gyeongseong Creature, both on Netflix, though Cha Hae-in operates at a considerably larger fantasy scale than either of those characters.
Kang Yoo-seok plays Yoo Jin-ho, the younger son of the Yujin Group conglomerate, who joins Sung Jin-woo on dungeon quests and comes to treat him as an older brother. Kang appeared recently in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines and the medical drama Resident Playbook. Sung Joon is cast as Woo Jin-cheol, a section chief in the Hunter Association's surveillance division and an A-rank Hunter, the character who first suspects that Sung Jin-woo's re-awakening may be possible, making him an early source of institutional tension in the story.

Special appearances: Lee Sung-min and Rain
Lee Sung-min appears as Go Gun-hee, the chairman of the Hunter Association and a retired top-level Hunter who retains authority to summon Hunters in emergency situations. Rain takes the role of Baek Yun-ho, an S-rank Hunter who leads the Baek-ho Guild, ranked second among the five major Hunter guilds in Korea. Baek Yun-ho carries an unusual ability: he can transform into a demon beast. Rain recently appeared in season two of the Netflix series The Hunters, and the role here continues what has become a pattern of high-intensity action parts for him on the platform.
Direction and production
The series will be co-directed by Han Dong-wook alongside the existing directing team of Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo. Han Dong-wook won the directing prize in the TV category at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards for The Worst of Evil, a Disney+ series he made with production company Sane Pictures and Kakao Entertainment, the same partners returning here. His addition to the team is notable: The Worst of Evil was praised for sustaining tension across an action-heavy narrative, which is precisely the structural challenge a Solo Leveling adaptation faces.
Sane Pictures and Kakao Entertainment are producing. The series will be released on Netflix.
