Three episodes in, KBS 2TV's weekend drama Love Is Coming is already making a case for itself. The July 1 broadcast recorded 11.7% nationwide ratings according to Nielsen Korea, a number that carries extra weight given that the show marks actress Haney (An Hee-yeon) returning to a drama role for the first time in three years.

The third episode leaned into the relationship at the center of the series: the bond between Kim Moo-jin (played by Ha Seok-jin) and Han Gyu-rim (Haney) growing stronger even as unexpected obstacles push against it. The episode's sharpest dramatic beat came from Hong Ok-seon (Jin Kyung), whose fierce resistance to the couple's relationship gave the hour its tension. Jin Kyung, a reliable scene-stealer in Korean weekend dramas, is clearly being deployed well here, her opposition reads less like a stock antagonist and more like someone with real stakes in the outcome.

Love Is Coming centers on two people collecting the scattered pieces of broken families and building something whole and warm from them. It's the kind of premise that weekend drama audiences tend to invest in deeply, and the early ratings suggest that trust is already forming.

For context, the previous KBS weekend drama in this slot, I Prescribe Love, launched to 14.3% nationwide, so the bar is high. But hitting 11.7% by episode three is a solid foundation, and weekend dramas in Korea historically gain viewers as word of mouth spreads across the week.

Episode 4 airs on the 2nd at 8 p.m. KST.
