Red Velvet's Irene Shocks Fans with Tipsy Stunt on YouTube, But Was It Safe?
Red Velvet's Irene went on a wild drunken spree on YouTube, consuming alcohol and durian, which left fans concerned about the potential hazards. The incident has sparked an outcry over the crew's oversight regarding the risky food combination.

Red Velvet's Irene turned heads and raised eyebrows during her recent appearance on the YouTube channel ChaJwiPul, where she indulged in alcohol alongside durian, resulting in a tipsy state that shocked fans. Released on the 14th, the video titled "Irene Must Be Stopped: Why Is She Pushing It So Far?" has not only entertained but also alarmed viewers.

The channel's producers described Irene's transformation: "She entered as an introverted Irene but after one drink, she seemed to evolve, fully diving into the drinks and games. Fans noted that they had never seen her inebriated before. Comments flooded in with fans expressing amazement, saying things like, 'I’ve been a fan for 11 years and I've never seen her drunk before,' and 'She looks so cute when tipsy.'
However, some fans have expressed serious concerns about the safety of the situation. Eating durian, which contains compounds that interfere with alcohol metabolism, while drinking could pose significant health risks. The fruit is known to inhibit alcohol breakdown in the body, leading to the accumulation of acetaldehyde, a substance associated with hangover symptoms and other dangerous side effects.
A Thai fan commented, "In Thailand, we know not to eat durian and drink alcohol together, as both can raise body heat and be potentially dangerous. There have even been fatalities from such combinations. It’s possible that Irene and the ChaJwiPul staff weren’t aware of these risks since they’re not used to durian."
Another user added, "There’s a serious risk of death in some cases when consuming durian with alcohol. In the past, a man died after drinking beer and eating durian!"
The incident has raised questions about the production team's responsibility for ensuring safety standards during filming. While many fans were charmed by Irene's playful tipsiness, the underlying risks of mixing alcohol with durian cannot be ignored. This mishap serves as a reminder for entertainers and producers alike to exercise caution and awareness when it comes to health and safety, especially with unfamiliar foods.
