The ink on Chuseok's holiday greetings is barely dry, and K-pop's comeback calendar is already filling up fast. From late September through all of October, at least eight acts are scheduling new releases in a window that has become one of the year's most competitive, as groups race to build momentum before award season and year-end broadcasts lock up everyone's schedules.

The wave starts right after the holiday

All Day Project fires the first shot, with their second EP CRASH landing on the 28th, just days after Chuseok wraps. The mixed-gender group, led by producer Teddy under The Black Label, made a striking entrance in June last year, claiming a music show trophy within ten days of debuting and reaching the top of Melon's Top 100 chart with tracks like "FAMOUS" and "WICKED." After about nine months away, CRASH promises a new mood and a deliberate shift in tone, which makes it one of the more intriguing returns of the bunch.

On the 2nd, Choi Ye-na is back with a new digital single, "보기 드문 여자" (A Rare Woman), a reimagining of a 2014 Block B track. The updated version features a duet between Choi Ye-na and Nowiim Young, reworking the original's playful push-and-pull energy with a fresher sound palette. It follows the strong chart run she enjoyed in March with "Catch Catch" from her mini-album LOVE CATCHER, which made noise across streaming platforms and short-form video alike.

Rock band N.Flying arrives next on the 8th with their ninth mini-album Still, their first full release since the digital single "환절기" in June. The group has spent more than a decade building a devoted following on the strength of their live performances and consistent output, and Still is positioned as a more emotionally layered chapter, centered on feelings that linger quietly over time rather than fading.

The 12th gets crowded fast

October 12th belongs to two very different acts arriving at exactly the same time. NCT WISH drops their fourth mini-album I SPY, with the title track of the same name. The group's previous release, the first full-length album Ode to Love in April, was their third consecutive million-seller, so there's real expectation around whether I SPY can extend that streak into 2026's back half.

Sharing the date is PLAVE, the virtual idol group that has been quietly rewriting what that category can achieve. They became the first virtual act to surpass one million first-week sales and broke into the Billboard 200, which are benchmarks that still feel unlikely on paper. Their fifth mini-album HYPERDRIVE is the follow-up that gets to answer what comes after breaking through.

Later in October, the stakes get even higher

NMIXX rounds out mid-October with their sixth mini-album Strange Muse on the 19th. The JYP group rode significant momentum off Blue Valentine last year, and Strange Muse arrives as the project that either consolidates that growth or pushes it somewhere new. The title alone suggests the group is leaning into the unpredictable genre-blending that has defined their best work.

ILLIT closes out the month on the 26th with their fifth mini-album BREAK EVEN. The HYBE group spent much of the year riding the success of "It's Me," which swept major domestic and international charts, and BREAK EVEN is their most anticipated release since their breakout. The gap between that kind of chart dominance and a follow-up always carries a bit of pressure, and ILLIT fans will be listening closely to hear which direction the group moves.

Also penciled in for mid-October is Changmin of TVXQ, returning as a solo act, though a specific date has not been confirmed yet.

The overlap of all these releases reflects something the industry has leaned into more deliberately in recent years. November's calendar fills quickly with award shows and year-end broadcast specials, so October has effectively become the last clean window for a full promotional cycle. For groups trying to carry momentum into those ceremonies, dropping now makes practical sense: the streaming surge and fan engagement from a fresh comeback can still be at peak intensity when the stages that matter most come around.
