October is shaping up to be the most crowded comeback month of 2026, with NMIXX, IVE, and ILLIT all releasing new albums within the same seven-day stretch, and two of them hitting on the exact same date.

NMIXX open the month with their first-ever unit tracks

The battle kicks off on the 19th with NMIXX's sixth mini-album Strange Muse, arriving five months after their fifth EP Heavy Serenade. The group is going for a dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere this time, and the six-track tracklist reflects that ambition: title track "Birthday Wish (긴 소원)", plus "Kerosene", "RudE TaLK", and three unit songs that mark a first for the group since their debut.

The unit pairings are Lily and Haewon on "Sing to the Moon (너는 달)", Sullyoon and BAE on "Hot 'n Unbothered", and Jiwoo and Kyujin on "WHIP (휙)". Each duo contributed to the lyrics of their respective track, and Kyujin also has a co-composition credit, a sign of how much room the group is being given to shape their own sound. After back-to-back commercial successes with Blue Valentine and Heavy Serenade, the question now is whether the dreamier, more experimental direction of Strange Muse keeps that momentum going.

IVE and ILLIT collide on the 26th

A week later, IVE and ILLIT both arrive on the 26th, setting up the kind of same-day clash that sends fans straight to the charts.

IVE's new mini-album Looks Can Kill arrives eight months after their last release, and it represents a deliberate pivot. Where their recent work leaned into cupid mythology and magical girl aesthetics, this era introduces a "girl hero" concept, something harder-edged and more assertive. The title track will be released as a pre-drop on the 19th, the same day NMIXX's album drops, giving IVE a week-long runway before the full project lands. It's a calculated move for a group that already hit a perfect all-kill on the domestic charts with "BANG BANG" from their second full-length album Revive Plus. Their ongoing second world tour SHOW WHAT I AM has only widened the global fanbase they're bringing into this comeback.

ILLIT, meanwhile, return with their fifth mini-album BREAK EVEN six months after the success of "It's Me" from Mamamilapinatapaï. The album title itself signals the tonal shift: "break even" refers to the point where neither side gains nor loses, and the record is framed as a declaration of emotional withdrawal from a relationship that stopped being worth the effort. That's a meaningful departure for a group whose discography has largely been built around the rush and boldness of falling for someone.

The title track, loosely translated as something like "I'm Arresting You", pushes that theme to its peak: it's aimed at someone who used habitual kindness to create a false impression, and ILLIT's response is cool, self-possessed, and final. Watching how K-pop listeners respond to this colder, more autonomous version of the group will be one of the more interesting storylines of the month.

Boy groups are also watching

The girl group traffic isn't the only thing making October feel unusually stacked. Kickflip, N.Flying, NCT WISH, PLAVE, and MODISEE have all announced comebacks within the same month, which means the competition for chart space, streaming numbers, and fan attention is running across the board.

For NMIXX, IVE, and ILLIT specifically, October is a chance to define where each group stands heading into the end of the year, and all three are arriving with something genuinely new to say.
