Kim Se-jeong takes on a daring dual role in 'High School Queen,' a fantasy action romance set to premiere on Tving next year. The series revolves around a Joseon queen who finds herself in a modern high school, challenging societal norms.

Kim Se-jeong will take on a remarkable dual role in the upcoming Tving original series High School Queen, a fantasy action romance set to debut next year. The production company, Studio Dragon, announced this release on July 31, confirming that Kim will star alongside fellow actors Bae Hyun-sung and Jo Han-kyul.
The series is based on a webtoon of the same name, detailing the journey of a Joseon-era queen who suddenly finds herself in the body of a modern-day high school student suffering from bullying. The plot captures her clash with contemporary injustices, as she aims to deliver her own brand of justice to the antagonists within this new setting.
In the series, Kim Se-jeong portrays Kim Cheong-ha, a queen renowned for her exceptional martial skills. After awakening in the body of a student named Kim Da-jin, she harnesses her regal poise and warrior instincts to navigate the challenges of a high school dominated by wealth and power.
Bae Hyun-sung will play Seong Won-joo, a royal guard who has feelings for Cheong-ha, while Jo Han-kyul portrays both the tyrannical King Lee Yeong and a mysterious new student named Lee Do-yoon.
The screenplay is penned by Lee Jeong-tae, and direction is in the capable hands of Yoon Seong-sik, known for his work on successful dramas like Gunggeum and Queen Cheorin.
Studio Dragon expressed great enthusiasm about High School Queen, stating that it will showcase the beauty and charm of Korean culture. They also indicated plans to develop various content that draws from the series’ universe and intellectual property, exploring its potential as a global IP.
As the series approaches its release, anticipation continues to build around Kim Se-jeong’s standout performance and the unique storytelling that blends historical themes with modern societal issues.
