Kim Yong-ji Posts Her First Words as a Newlywed Two Days After a Guest-Led Reveal

Actress Kim Yong-ji announced at her wedding reception on the 11th that she is pregnant and expecting a daughter, after marrying a non-celebrity Japanese man in a private ceremony in Seoul. Two days later, on the 13th, she posted wedding photos on social media with a short message: that she is now a married woman, and thanks to everyone who congratulated her.

The news first reached the public through guests rather than an agency statement, a familiar route for Korean actors who marry quietly. Her close friend Kim Go-eun shared photos from the day, and no dating rumors had surfaced beforehand. The groom's identity has not been disclosed beyond his nationality and that he works outside entertainment.

Her own post, and the pregnancy news

In the photos she shared on the 13th, Kim Yong-ji wears a wedding dress with an unusual design. In another she holds her husband's hand and smiles broadly. The pregnancy and the baby's sex were revealed at the reception that followed the ceremony, not in the post itself.

Photos from the ceremony showed an outdoor setting beside a traditional tiled-roof hanok, which gave the wedding a classic feel.

A guest list from the same circle

Kim Yong-ji and Kim Go-eun were both born in 1991 and are described as close friends who entered the Korea National University of Arts together as the class of 2010. Kim Go-eun attended and posted her congratulations.

Other guests included actors Bae Jung-nam, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Bum and Ryu Kyung-soo. Bae Jung-nam posted a photo with the couple the same day, captioned with a congratulatory message in his Gyeongsang dialect. In it, Kim Yong-ji wears an off-the-shoulder dress and smiles broadly, while the groom stands taller than Bae Jung-nam.

Her career so far

Kim Yong-ji debuted as an advertising model in 2015, and she became widely recognized in 2018 through the tvN drama Mr. Sunshine. Her later credits include Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 and The King: Eternal Monarch.
