Ko So-young Shares Her Top 3 Healthy Fridge Staples: Kohlrabi, Blueberries, and Chicken Breast!
In her latest YouTube video, Ko So-young reveals her essential fridge items: kohlrabi, blueberries, and chicken breast, all perfect for health-conscious eating.

Ko So-young revealed her top three healthy fridge staples in a recent YouTube video that aired on July 29. The actress listed kohlrabi, blueberries, and chicken breast as essential foods that support weight management and overall health.
Starting with kohlrabi, a nutritious vegetable resulting from the crossbreeding of cabbage and turnips, Ko stated, "I eat kohlrabi when I crave late-night snacks." Low in calories at just 27 kcal per 100g and high in fiber, kohlrabi is a favored diet food. It is known to lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels while enhancing metabolism and circulatory health. Supporting this, a 2022 meta-analysis published in Phytotherapy Research showed that individuals who regularly consumed cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, and kohlrabi showed notably lower total cholesterol levels.
Next on her list were blueberries, which Ko highlighted as another must-have. A study involving international researchers from the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture and Arkansas University found that anthocyanins, the compounds giving blueberries their vibrant color, have antioxidant properties that eliminate free radicals and enhance blood flow to the brain. Additionally, they offer anti-inflammatory and blood sugar-regulating benefits, making them excellent for eye health as well.
Lastly, Ko introduced chicken breast as a staple. She noted, "I slice it and add it to my ramen." Recognized as a prominent low-calorie, high-protein food, chicken breast contains between 23 and 25g of protein per 100g while maintaining a caloric content of about 102 kcal. Rich in essential amino acids, it is effective in supporting muscle synthesis and preventing muscle loss during weight loss.
Ko So-young's recommendations not only underline her commitment to healthy eating but also resonate with many looking for nutritious options in their diets.
