NCT 127's Entire 7-Member Lineup Re-Signs with SM Entertainment Ahead of 10-Year Anniversary

All seven members of NCT 127 have re-signed with SM Entertainment, the label announced on July 15, keeping the group's full lineup intact as it approaches its tenth debut anniversary next week. The renewal is notable in part because two of the seven members, Doyoung and Jungwoo, are currently serving their mandatory military service, meaning the commitment extends across what is typically the most uncertain period in a Korean idol's contract timeline.

SM confirmed that members Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, and Haechan all agreed to re-sign, citing what the label described as "solid teamwork built over the years and deep mutual trust." In its statement, SM noted that NCT 127 debuted on July 7, 2016 and has spent the past decade establishing itself as a representative act of the K-pop genre. The label said it would "continue to provide full support and remain a dependable partner" for the group going forward.

In the K-pop industry, collective re-signings of this kind carry real significance. Groups routinely lose one or two members at the end of an initial contract cycle, and the period when members are on military leave can complicate negotiations further. NCT 127 avoiding that kind of attrition, with all seven names on the new agreement, gives the group a cleaner run-up to whatever marks their ten-year milestone.

Seventeen's Dino releases solo single as alter ego Pichelin

Separately on Tuesday, Seventeen member Dino released a new single under his solo alter ego Pichelin (피철인). The track, titled No Breakup is Painless (아프지 않은 이별은 없다), is a city-pop number described by label Pledis Entertainment as blending warm post-relationship memories with a lingering ache, built around a piano-forward arrangement. Dino co-wrote both the lyrics and composition.

The single serves as the pre-release track for Gilboard (吉BOARD), Pichelin's debut mini-album, due out August 3. A notable addition to the track: veteran Korean singer Lee Moon-se contributed a spoken narration for the intro, a collaboration that bridges generations and gives the release an unexpected texture.

Sunmi returns with Forever July

Also released Tuesday evening, Sunmi's new digital single Forever July marks her first new music since her full-length debut album HEART MAID in November of last year, an eight-month gap by her own standards. Sunmi co-wrote and co-composed the track, which her label Abyss Company describes as drawing a metaphor between the sudden arrival of love and a summer monsoon breaking through clear skies. The single is out now via major streaming platforms.
