NCT Wish Hit Double Platinum in Japan for the First Time, Crossing 500K Units Shipped

NCT Wish have reached a new milestone in Japan, earning their first Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) after their single YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL crossed 500,000 cumulative units shipped as of last month.

The single, released in July, cleared the RIAJ's Double Platinum threshold, which requires 500,000 or more units shipped, within roughly two months of release. For context, the RIAJ awards Gold at 100,000 units, Platinum at 250,000, Double Platinum at 500,000, Triple Platinum at 750,000, and Million at one million. Reaching the 500,000 mark in that window is a strong early indicator for a group still building its Japanese fanbase under SM Entertainment.

The wider K-pop certification sweep

Several other K-pop acts also received certifications in the same RIAJ cycle. On the Platinum side, ENHYPEN's mini album THE SIN : BLISS, TXT's single セツナハナビ (Setsuna Hanabi), TOURS's single SODA SODA, and RIIZE's single Sunburst all cleared the 250,000-unit mark. NiziU, the Japanese girl group created by JYP Entertainment, also earned Platinum for their mini album GOOD GIRL BUT NOT FOR YOU.

Falling just below that tier, ZEROBASEONE's mini album Hoegwi Love, Alpha Drive One's mini album UNBREAKABLE : 소년 BEAST, LE SSERAFIM's studio album PUREFLOW pt.1, and MIAI's single Flower Road, MIAI being a Japan-based group formed by CJ ENM, all received Gold certifications, each surpassing 100,000 units shipped.

For NCT Wish, the Double Platinum marker is the ceiling to watch: if the group sustains this shipment pace into their next Japanese release, a Triple Platinum run looks plausible within the year.
