Oh My Girl's Mimi is set to release her first solo single on August 20 at 6 p.m. KST, marking her debut as a solo artist eleven years after she first stepped into the industry with Oh My Girl in 2015. The release is notable not just for the timeline but for the degree of creative involvement: Mimi contributed to the songwriting, composition, and overall production of the track.

Within Oh My Girl, Mimi has served as the group's main rapper, building a reputation on her husky vocal tone, distinctive delivery, and a stage presence that tended to draw attention even in ensemble performances. Solo spotlight, however, has come slowly for her compared to some of her labelmates, making this debut something fans have waited on for a while.

WM Entertainment, which manages Mimi alongside co-labels RBW and DSP Media, said the single reflects "an artist's side of Mimi that has not been shown before." The phrasing suggests a deliberate departure from her established rap-heavy identity, though the specifics of the sound have not been disclosed ahead of release.

Beyond the music itself, Mimi was actively involved in shaping the performance and visual direction of the project, according to the label. That level of across-the-board participation is relatively uncommon for a debut single, and it positions the release less as a one-off solo effort and more as a genuine artistic statement.

Mimi is also currently appearing on Wooju Tteokjip, a tvN variety program that premiered on July 31. The overlap in timing means she enters her solo launch with some existing broadcast visibility, which tends to matter for initial streaming traction in the Korean market.

The single drops August 20 on major music platforms.
