RIIZE will release the single "Insomnia" at midnight on the 26th, and for once the group's calling card is not the dance. The track is an acoustic pop song that puts the voices of all six members at the center, a clear step away from the choreography-driven title tracks fans know them for.

According to SM Entertainment, "Insomnia" is about the feelings that surface on nights when sleep won't come. The sound is calm and a little lonesome, paired with restrained vocals, so the song leans on tone and control rather than big, showy moments. For a group whose live stages usually hinge on the choreography, hearing them hold back should make for an interesting contrast.

Lyricist Kim Ina wrote the words. Her lyrics follow how thoughts of one particular person grow sharper as the night deepens, and how a chain of emotions follows from that.

Four months after a million-seller

The single arrives about four months after RIIZE's second mini album, released in June. That release was promoted with the title track "Do Your Dance" and became the group's fourth million-selling album overall.

Following a dance-forward title track with a quiet vocal showcase is a notable choice, and it may tell us how the group wants to be heard going forward. "Insomnia" will be available on major music platforms from 12 a.m. on the 26th.
