SEVENTEEN grossed $97,394,004 (about 129.6 billion won) from 661,088 tickets to take No. 1 on Pollstar's new Asia Focus chart of top touring artists. The US live-industry trade publication tallied Asian tour revenue from August 1 last year through July 31 this year.

The result is a step up for the group. On the same chart a year earlier, SEVENTEEN placed second, behind the British band Coldplay.

The tour behind the number

The revenue came from the world tour NEW_, which began last September and brought the group to large stadiums in Incheon, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Bulacan. In Hong Kong, SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop act to sell out the city's biggest venue, Kai Tak Stadium, four times.

Add the Japanese dates, at Vantelin Dome Nagoya, Kyocera Dome Osaka, Tokyo Dome and Mizuho PayPay Dome Fukuoka, and the group played 22 concerts in Asia alone during the chart window.

PLEDIS Entertainment, the group's agency, said SEVENTEEN climbed the rankings even with some members away, which it took as proof of the group's continued presence in the live market.

K-pop's wider share of the list

SEVENTEEN were not alone at the top. TWICE ranked second, TXT third and BTS fourth, with BLACKPINK at eighth and ENHYPEN at ninth. That makes six K-pop acts among the ten highest-grossing touring artists in Asia.

In its accompanying coverage, Pollstar said K-pop's dominance of the Asian market, anchored in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Dubai, continues. The Kai Tak run is a good illustration: a stadium that large selling out four nights says as much about regional demand as the chart position does.
