OMONAR

i-dle's Yuqi opened her solo comeback countdown with something closer to a short film than a teaser: a cinematic intro for her second mini-album 二十七(27), posted to official channels on the 24th and quietly pulling fans into one of the more emotionally considered concepts she's put her name on.

The footage cuts between two versions of Yuqi. In one, she stands still at the edge of calm water, watching her own reflection. In another, shot in black and white, she walks through rain in a heavier, more unresolved mood. The two images don't resolve immediately, they sit in contrast, which is exactly the point. When the color-side Yuqi finally reaches out and embraces her own reflection, the monochrome version settles too, and a sunflower that had been burning and melting returns to its full, bright shape.

It's the kind of visual storytelling that earns the cinematic label rather than just borrowing it.

The narration that set the tone

Yuqi voiced a Chinese-language narration over the footage, and the words did real work. She opens by acknowledging pain that couldn't be spoken aloud, the kind that surfaces late at night. She then addresses herself directly: you were never naturally brave, she says, and you're afraid of losing things, afraid of goodbyes. But rather than leaving it there, she pivots toward acceptance. "I love every version of you," she narrates. "There's no 100% right answer in this world. Crying well and laughing well, neither is wrong. Living freely and passionately, that's what it means to be you."

The closing line lands on the album's central image: "I hope the 27-year-old you always grows toward the sunlight, like a sunflower."

That line connects directly to the album's earlier artwork teaser, which described 27 as the age when a sunflower turns away from its own shadow and faces only the sun, the brightest smile hiding the deepest worries. As a through-line for the whole project, it's doing exactly what an intro film should.

What the album is and what comes next

Cube Entertainment confirmed that 二十七(27) drops on October 8, roughly one year and one month after Yuqi's 2025 single Motivation. The album title comes directly from her age: she turned 27 this year, and the project is framed as a personal musical narrative built around that specific moment in her life. Her debut solo mini-album, YUQ1, sold over 550,000 copies in its first week, a strong foundation for this follow-up.

Before the release, fans can visit the TODAY WITH GIGI pop-up in Seoul's Seongdong district, running from the 30th through October 6 at Plaatz 2 on Ttukseom-ro 17-gil. The space is built around GIGI, Yuqi's official character, and the image teasers show a warm pink room and a carrot-shaped house where GIGI greets visitors. Merchandise details and booking information are set to be announced through official channels.

After the album drops, Yuqi heads to China for the 2026 YUQI Fan-Con '27', hitting four major cities: Guangzhou first, then Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai. City-by-city schedules will be released in stages. It's a full second half of the year built around this single project, and the intro film suggests Yuqi has the emotional material to carry it.
