Karina's Fridge Full of Homemade Korean Food Has a Wholesome Explanation
Karina appeared on JTBC's 'Fridge Is Full' and surprised everyone when her refrigerator turned out to be stocked with homemade Korean side dishes. The story behind it? Her mom is currently away on a language study program abroad, so her great-aunt has stepped in to keep her well-fed.

Karina's fridge stole the show on the July 12 episode of JTBC's Fridge Is Full (since 2014), and not just because it was packed to the brim with homemade Korean banchan. When the MCs asked who had prepared all the side dishes, the aespa member's answer turned into one of the warmer moments of the episode.

Karina explained that her mother is currently overseas on a language study program, so her great-aunt has been cooking and sending food in her place. "My great-aunt loves to cook," she said. "My mom is away studying, so my aunt makes the side dishes and sends them to me instead."

aespa's Winter also joined Karina as a guest on the variety show, which brings idol guests on to cook dishes using whatever they have in their own refrigerators. The premise tends to pull out personal details that wouldn't surface in a typical interview setting, and this episode delivered exactly that.
Karina added that Korean food is her everyday preference, though she's not opposed to Western food. The practical reality, she noted, is that she can't easily cook it herself, so Western meals are something she goes out for rather than prepares at home.
For MYs tracking Karina's appearances outside of aespa's main schedule, the episode is a light, easy watch with a genuinely sweet family detail at its center.
