A final costume check before the biggest outdoor festival of the summer is not usually where you expect a star to crack, but that's exactly the moment the cameras caught BIBI in the debut preview for Biseokin, the new SBS variety show premiering on the 28th. Standing backstage at the 2026 Waterbomb Music Festival, her face visibly drained of colour, BIBI's lips were trembling as the stage waited.

"I was really nervous today," she said afterward. "My hands and feet went cold. I felt overwhelmed by the stage. I kept trying to wake my body up."

A rocky start with her one-day managers

Biseokin (full title: What Will You Do For Me, Biseokin) pairs BIBI with actors Lee Seo-jin and Kim Kwang-gyu, who take on the role of her managers for the episode. The premise gets off to a bumpy start almost immediately: when BIBI greets the two men at their first meeting, neither of them recognises her. Lee Seo-jin squints and asks, "Is that BIBI? No, wait, " and Kim Kwang-gyu offers the diplomatic explanation that the backlight made it hard to see her face.

The three don't exactly settle into an easy rhythm in the green room either. When BIBI spots a snack and says, "Oh, that looks good," Lee Seo-jin cuts in with "Don't eat that." BIBI fires back: "Why are you telling me what to do?" Kim Kwang-gyu, meanwhile, gets his own review from her, "a tiring type", and then quietly tells the camera he's scared of her, which gets a laugh.

'She really worked hard to get where she is'

Once the Waterbomb set was actually underway, the tone shifted. Lee Seo-jin, who had spent the lead-up gently trying to calm her down with "Don't be nervous, what are you getting nervous about," watched the full performance and came away clearly moved. "Watching her, I thought, she really worked hard to get where she is," he said.

It's a small but telling beat. The nervousness BIBI described, cold extremities, that sense of being physically overtaken by stage fright, is the kind of detail that tends to reframe how people see a performer they thought they already knew. For a festival stage as chaotic and high-energy as Waterbomb, where the crowd and the water and the scale of the production all compound at once, the feeling she was describing makes complete sense.

Biseokin airs its first episode on the 28th on SBS.
