BIGBANG dropped their new digital single BiiiG at 6 p.m. KST on August 19, 2026, marking exactly 20 years since the group debuted with "La La La", and their first release together since Still Life (봄여름가을겨울) in April 2022, a gap of four years and four months.

The song is a high-energy hip-hop track built around a massive beat and an immediately hooky chorus. G-Dragon handled writing and production, which means BiiiG carries his fingerprints throughout: the arrangement is dense and confident, the kind of track that signals the group had no interest in easing back in quietly. YG Entertainment describes the single as a showcase of each member's distinct voice working in tandem, G-Dragon's sharp rapping, Taeyang's characteristically groovy vocal delivery, and Daesung's full, powerful tone locking in together. Notably, the members oversaw not just the music itself but also the visual direction and broader marketing rollout, keeping creative control firmly within the group.

The anniversary hasn't been a quiet one offline either. In Seoul's Jamsil district, fans can visit a multi-part celebration that includes a media art exhibition, a dedicated photo zone, a merchandise shop, and a lighting installation on Seokchon Lake. It's a physical marker of a milestone that the group clearly wanted to make impossible to miss.

Two days after the single's release, BIGBANG opens their 2026–2027 World Tour 'XX : COSMOS' at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on August 21–23. The tour then extends to 19 cities across North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, with a total of 33 performances at large-scale venues worldwide.

On their official social media, BIGBANG also shared a 20th anniversary video tracing their journey from debut to present. In it, the members reflected warmly on their career, saying it was the love of the people who watched over them that allowed them to shine, and that they are more than ready for what comes next.

Debuting in August 2006, BIGBANG became one of the defining acts of K-pop's second generation, building a catalog that includes "Lies," "Last Farewell," "Haru Haru," FANTASTIC BABY, and BANG BANG BANG. Their ability to compose, produce, and perform their own material, rooted in hip-hop but never confined to it, set them apart at a time when that kind of creative autonomy was rare for idol groups. Two decades on, BiiiG sounds like a group that remembers exactly who they are.
