BIGBANG, ENHYPEN, NCT 127 and More Are All Coming Back in August

BIGBANG, ENHYPEN, NCT 127, Stray Kids, and rookie group ALPHADRIVE1 are all releasing new music this August, making it one of the busiest months for K-pop boy groups in recent memory. BIGBANG's new digital single 'BiiiG' will be their first group release since 2022, landing just before a 33-show world tour that kicks off in Goyang. Industry analysts expect the wave of releases to reverse July's record-low album sales figures.

Stray Kids fired the opening shot. The group dropped their mini-album THIS & THAT on August 7, and first-week sales surpassed 3.28 million copies on the Hanteo Chart, a figure that sits comfortably among K-pop's biggest releases of the year. A remix version followed on the 12th, keeping the momentum going heading into what looks like the most competitive August the boy group scene has seen in a while.

The headline act waiting further down the calendar is BIGBANG. On August 19, the group releases their new digital single 'BiiiG', their first release as a complete unit since 'Still Life' in 2022. That four-year gap has only seemed to sharpen anticipation: their surprise set at Coachella earlier this year generated significant buzz, and an industry source noted that the performance gave them reach across two very different audiences. "For people who grew up with BIGBANG, it's a welcome back. For the younger generation, it reads as something fresh," the source told Yonhap News. YG Entertainment described 'BiiiG' as the track that most clearly captures where the group stands at their 20th anniversary.

The single lands just two days before BIGBANG opens their new world tour, 'XX: COSMOS', with three shows at Goyang Stadium from August 21 to 23. The tour then extends to 19 cities across North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, totaling 33 performances.

Also on August 21, ENHYPEN return with their eighth mini-album, THE SIN : BLISS. The title track 'Bloody Paradise' draws from Brazilian funk, and the concept frames two people in the middle of pursuit and escape as though their crisis is its own kind of paradise. More notably, it marks the group's first full comeback as a six-member unit following Heeseung's departure. ENHYPEN previewed the 'Bloody Paradise' stage at their Busan concert on August 8 and 9, giving fans an early look before the official release.

Three days later, NCT 127 follow with their seventh studio album BLINGY on August 24. It's the first full-length record since Mark's departure, and the seven remaining members all re-signed their contracts ahead of the release, which is a meaningful show of commitment as the group marks its 10th anniversary. Active promotions will run as a five-member unit, with Doyoung and Jungwoo both currently completing military service.

ALPHADRIVE1, the rookie group under Wake One, round out the month with their second mini-album UNBREAKABLE : 少年BEAST on August 24. The group came up through Mnet's Boys2Planet and made a strong first impression: their debut album sold over 1.44 million copies in its first week, putting them straight into million-seller territory. The new record leans into themes of growth and identity under pressure, a natural evolution for a group still establishing its voice.

The timing of all this matters beyond the music itself. Circle Chart data journalist Kim Jin-woo told Yonhap that July's album sales hit their lowest point of 2026, and he expects August's lineup to flip that trend sharply. "With this many major boy groups coming back in August, sales should rebound," he said, adding that the cumulative total for the year could cross 100 million albums in the second half of 202, driven partly by this month's releases.

From second-generation veterans to fifth-generation rookies, the range of groups dropping music this August is unusual even by K-pop's packed-calendar standards. Whether it's a coordinated push or just the natural rhythm of the industry's release cycle, fans across a wide span of fanbases are going to have a very busy few weeks.
