TWICE's Chaeyoung Loses Her Label and Her Boyfriend in the Same 24 Hours
TWICE member Chaeyoung announced her departure from JYP Entertainment after 14 years on the 13th, then breakup reports with singer Zionт surfaced the very next day. Both sides have declined to officially confirm the split, but the timing makes for one of the more dramatic 48-hour stretches a K-pop idol has had in recent memory. Chaeyoung says she'll continue as a TWICE member while pursuing solo music under her own 'LIL FANTASY' banner.

TWICE's Chaeyoung announced she was leaving JYP Entertainment on the 13th after 14 years with the label. By the 14th, reports were circulating that her relationship with singer Zionт had also ended.
A music industry source told JTBC Entertainment News that Chaeyoung and Zionт "recently ended their romantic relationship and returned to being industry seniors and juniors," attributing the split to busy schedules gradually pulling them apart. Neither Chaeyoung's team nor Zionт's camp officially confirmed the breakup, with both sides citing "artist privacy" as the reason they couldn't comment. The timing is suspicious only in how clean it is: two major life partitions, back to back, one day apart.
The two had gone public in April 2024, confirming at the time that they were "meeting with romantic interest." They reportedly met through mutual acquaintances and made their relationship official despite a 10-year age gap. The relationship ran approximately two years and four months.
The label departure is a bigger structural shift. Chaeyoung has been with JYP since before TWICE debuted in 2015, making her exit a 14-year chapter closing. She framed it with ambition rather than grievance, saying she plans to build music within her own "LIL FANTASY" world. The solo path forward is independent, but her place in TWICE is not changing. Group activities continue as scheduled.
That distinction matters. Going independent from a label while staying in a JYP-managed group is a specific arrangement, and TWICE's continued activity suggests the split was handled without the kind of friction that forces a full exit. Chaeyoung gets her own lane; the group keeps its lineup.
For context: TWICE broke through with a run of consecutive hits and became one of the defining third-generation girl groups in Korean pop. Chaeyoung has been part of that from the start. On the solo side, she's largely been quieter than some of her bandmates, which makes the "LIL FANTASY" declaration feel like a genuine statement of intent rather than a formality.
Zionт, who debuted in 2011, built his reputation across a string of well-known R&B and pop releases and currently runs his own creative company, Standard Friends. He and Chaeyoung were one of K-pop's more visible couples after their 2024 public confirmation.
Now she's building something on her own terms. Whether that's liberating or just a lot to process at once is probably both.
