BTS's ARIRANG world tour crossed $500 million in cumulative ticket revenue on the Billboard Boxscore, becoming the first pop group in history to reach that figure. The six acts that cleared the mark before them were all rock bands.

Billboard's latest Boxscore report, released on September 30 (local time), confirmed the milestone. ARIRANG launched in Goyang this past April and has been building steadily ever since, with roughly 40 shows still to come. Billboard projects the tour's final tally could land around $1 billion (approximately 1.36 trillion Korean won).

August alone rewrote the record books

The number that makes the $500M crossing feel almost inevitable is what BTS did in a single month. In August, the group played 12 sold-out shows across six North American cities, drawing approximately 800,000 fans and posting $171.7 million in ticket sales. That figure is the second-highest monthly gross in Billboard Boxscore history, sitting just behind Beyoncé's $179.3 million from August 2023.

Two nights at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey alone brought in $32.7 million from around 158,000 attendees, a staggering return for just two dates.

The August run also pushed BTS to the top of the monthly Top Tours chart, their fifth time at number one on that ranking. For context, Bad Bunny has claimed the top spot 10 times; Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Elton John each have seven. BTS is now in that company.

Where ARIRANG sits in tour history

Among all acts, not just pop acts, fewer than 20 single tours have ever crossed the $500 million mark on the Billboard Boxscore. Within that exclusive group, ARIRANG is only the seventh by a group and the seventh overall to achieve it since the tracking began. The six who got there first, all rock bands, had a decades-long head start. That BTS arrived here on a tour that hasn't even wrapped yet says something about the scale the group operates at now.

With 40 shows remaining on the ARIRANG schedule, the path to $1 billion is real rather than theoretical. If they sustain anything close to their August pace, the final number could redefine what pop touring looks like at its ceiling.
