The controversy lasted maybe a day, and it ended about as cleanly as these things ever do.

CORTIS, the rookie group under Big Hit Music (HYBE), dropped their mini album 2nd edition on the 24th. One track, MONEYMONEYMONEY, pulled Han Roro's name and her signature song 0+0 into a wordplay sequence. Fans of Han Roro flagged it almost immediately, and the reaction was skeptical: 0+0, from her EP Jamong Apricot Club, is a song about solidarity among people carrying pain and loss. Dropping her name into a line about stacking zeros in a bank account felt, to some, like a tonal mismatch.

How both artists handled it

CORTIS member Geonho moved first. On the group's fan platform, he explained the lyric was a shout-out, not a gimmick. "Han Roro's lyrics read like poetry," he wrote. "I've admired them deeply. I wanted to show respect to someone I've studied because I want to write better lyrics myself."

Han Roro responded the same day, and she wasn't cold about it. On her fan community, she wrote that she'd already noticed CORTIS members listening to 0+0 regularly and had felt grateful for it. "I'm receiving this as a moment where musicians communicate through music and respect each other," she said. She also took a beat to reassure her fans who'd been upset, then turned around and congratulated CORTIS on the new release.

The whole thing resolved in public, in real time, without labels issuing statements or anyone going quiet. For a K-pop controversy, that's almost suspiciously tidy.

Han Roro's HYBE connection

The crossover isn't random. Han Roro has a working relationship with Big Hit Music that predates CORTIS entirely. She co-wrote Water Ripple for TOMORROW X TOGETHER back in 2023, and earlier this year she served as sole lyricist on Heavy Serenade, the title track from NMIXX's fifth mini album released in May. CORTIS are label juniors in the same HYBE ecosystem, so Geonho having her records on rotation tracks.

The episode is a small one, but it shows something real about how Han Roro sits in the industry right now. She's not just a streaming favorite among younger listeners; she's become a reference point for a certain kind of lyric writing, the kind groups actively study.
