Crush Brings IU Into the Studio for '삐그덕', His First Release in 14 Months

Crush is back after roughly 14 months, and he has brought IU with him. His agency, P Nation, announced on the 16th that the digital single '삐그덕' will arrive on all major music platforms on the 21st at 6 p.m. KST, with IU featured on the track.

The last time Crush put out new music was August of last year, when he released his fifth EP, FANG, and went on to win major music awards for it. The gap since then comes to about one year and two months.

A teaser video has already been released. It catches the two singers absorbed in the recording booth, working through the new song, and it includes brief snippets of their soft, mellow vocals. Nothing about the song's sound is spelled out beyond that, so the teaser is the only preview fans have for now.

The pairing is not coming out of nowhere. Crush and IU have been connected through music for years, and in 2019 each appeared as a guest at the other's solo concert, where they performed together on stage. Moving from those live moments to a shared studio recording feels like a natural next step, and it will be interesting to hear how their voices sit together on a finished track.

P Nation asked listeners to pay attention to the music from Crush, an artist loved for his distinct personality, and IU, who has a special vocal color of her own.

'삐그덕' is out on the 21st at 6 p.m. KST.
