'Destiny War 49' Shamans Return in Disney+ Spinoff That Welcomed Guests from 42 Countries

Disney+ has greenlit Sinbbal Stay, a spinoff of its Korean variety survival show Destiny War 49, with a planned release in 2026. The announcement reflects a pattern Disney has quietly built with its Korean unscripted lineup: when a format generates unexpected international engagement, the platform tends to move quickly on derivative content rather than waiting for a second season.

Destiny War 49, which premiered in February, brought together 49 musokin (Korean shamans and fortune-tellers) to compete through a series of missions testing their abilities and instincts. The show sat at an unusual intersection of reality competition and folk spirituality, and apparently found an audience well beyond Korea.

Sinbbal Stay takes the top three finishers from the original, winner Yoon Dae-man, runner-up Seolhwa, and third-place Lee So-bin, and adds two other standout figures from the cast, known by their titles Jiseon Doryeong and Maekhwa Doryeong. Together, they set up a communal residence and welcome global guests, cooking meals and offering personal consultations on the visitors' problems and concerns.

Guest applications were opened publicly in May, and the response pointed to how broadly the original traveled. Disney+ said submissions arrived from 42 countries, including the United States, Japan, France, Mexico, India, and Rwanda. For a Korean unscripted format built around a spiritual tradition unfamiliar to most international viewers, that geographic spread is a meaningful indicator of how the show was received rather than a standard outcome.

The spinoff will be directed by Hwang Gyo-jin, the PD behind Destiny War 49, keeping the creative continuity intact. No specific premiere date within 2026 has been announced.
