Disney+ Bets on Shin Min-a and Lee Jong-suk to Carry a 2.97 Billion-View Romance Fantasy
Disney+ released new stills of Shin Min-a, Joo Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young on the 19th. The series, adapted from an IP with 2.97 billion views, premieres Nov. 4.

Disney+ released a new set of press stills for The Remarried Empress on the 19th, showing its four leads: Shin Min-a as Empress Navier, Joo Ji-hoon as Emperor Sovieshu, Lee Jong-suk as Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, and Lee Se-young as Rashta, a runaway slave. The series premieres on Disney+ on Nov. 4, and this is not the first batch of stills or trailers the platform has put out.
The drop continues a steady promotional run for a title that already has a built-in audience. The Remarried Empress adapts a web novel and webtoon franchise that has logged a reported 2.97 billion cumulative views worldwide, the kind of number that lets a streamer market a drama to existing fans before a single episode airs.

The premise and the four faces
The story begins when Navier, the seemingly perfect empress of the Eastern Empire, is told by her husband Sovieshu that he wants a divorce, having fallen for Rashta. Navier does not simply accept. She asks the emperor to approve her remarriage to Heinrey instead, a demand that unsettles the court.

The stills sketch each character's position. Navier appears in an elegant gown with a composed smile, but her expression stiffens when she faces Rashta. Sovieshu looks cold beside his wife, imposing on horseback at a hunting ground, and pensive when seated alone. Heinrey, long the subject of rumors, wears a relaxed look and an unreadable smile. Rashta, now favored by the emperor, gazes up at him with what reads as sincere warmth, though the images also hint at ambition for a higher place.

Early reception from Busan
Before its official release, the series was invited to the On Screen section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, where the first three episodes were shown. Early reactions praised the lavish imperial visuals and how well the four leads embodied their roles.

There was criticism too. To center the story on four characters, the adaptation compresses the source's sprawling web of relationships, and the density of supporting characters and palace politics is reduced as a result. Some viewers saw a different upside: the drama handles the original's emotions more directly and concentrates on the conflicts between characters, a direction that has been credited as the live-action version's own.
That trade-off is common when long serialized fantasy is cut down to a limited run, and the full season will show how the balance holds once the political plotting has to carry more episodes.
