A K-pop vampire concept just got a sit-down with the head of the World Health Organization. ENHYPEN met WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the 22nd at the HYBE building in Seoul, and the reason is a blood drive that drew 7,730 donors in ten days.

BELIFT LAB, the group's agency, confirmed the meeting on the 23rd. Officials from South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korean Red Cross Blood Services also attended. The group traded notes on how they got fans to show up voluntarily, and on ways to raise public interest further.

The numbers behind the campaign

The campaign launched in January alongside the mini-album THE SIN : VANISH. It borrowed straight from the group's vampire storyline, which is central to ENHYPEN's narrative. Together with the Korean Red Cross, they put donation buses at spots where fans gather and ran an online event for participants nationwide.

The tally for January 16 to 25: 7,730 donors, online and offline. Of those, 1,031 were first-time donors, roughly 19 times the figure for the period before the campaign. The effort later expanded to Japan and Singapore, bringing cumulative participation to about 10,000.

A gimmick that actually moves donation numbers is rarer than it sounds, and the first-timer figure is the one that matters.

What was said

Tedros called blood "the most precious gift anyone can give another person, a gift of life." He said he was proud of every ENHYPEN member for working with the WHO to encourage donation and save lives.

The members said they started the campaign hoping the people who support them would join in. They thanked ENGENE, the fandom, around the world for taking part, and said they want to keep making "meaningful change" with fans.

End of story. The OMONAR Desk.
