EXO Unit Confirmed: Kai and Sehun Drop Their First Album After 2 Years of Pairing Up

SM Entertainment confirmed on the 2nd that EXO's Kai and Sehun will release their first unit album in December. The company told Dispatch, "Kai and Sehun will release their first unit album this coming December. We ask for your anticipation."

No title, concept or date has been given yet. Only the month.

The two were both born in 1994, which is where the fan nickname "94z" comes from. They have long been the performance backbone of EXO, thanks to sharp dance lines, polished visuals and a stage presence that fans rate highly. A pairing this popular getting its own project was never a stretch.

The groundwork was visible. Last September, Sehun appeared as a guest at Kai's first solo encore concert, and the two performed a joint stage. Sehun also turned up on Kai's web variety show Jeongwajeong, and the pair appear together as travel partners on ENA's Global Marble World Trip Season 4.

So the surprise here is mostly about timing, not about the idea. Fans had been reading the signs for a while.

EXO themselves released their eighth full-length album, REVERSE, in January. It reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top Album charts in 35 countries and regions.
