Korean actor Hong Min-gi is at the center of a rapidly escalating dispute over allegations of dating violence, after his former girlfriend, identified in Korean media reports only as A, went public with a series of claims that have now drawn legal responses from both sides. The confrontation follows a pattern that has become familiar in Korean entertainment: an ex-partner speaking out on social media, a management agency issuing a denial and threatening legal action, and the dispute hardening into something that will require a court to resolve.

A first posted her allegations on August 19, saying she had experienced verbal abuse, gaslighting, and physical violence during a relationship with Hong Min-gi that began in April. She shared a certified document she said had been sent to Hong Min-gi and his agency outlining specific incidents, including alleged assaults and other misconduct. Fable Company, Hong Min-gi's agency, responded the same day, acknowledging that the two had dated but denying the violence claims. The agency said A's repeated contact after the breakup constituted stalking, and it announced plans to pursue legal action for stalking and defamation.

A pushed back immediately. In a post on her own social media, she said the stalking characterization was false: she had gone to Hong Min-gi's home, she acknowledged, but only after he cut off contact following an abortion she had undergone alone in July. She described reaching out because she had no one else to turn to, and said that framing her distress as criminal conduct amounted to secondary harm against a victim.

The pregnancy allegation added considerable weight to the dispute. A said that despite having a regular menstrual cycle, she went without a period for about two weeks and raised her concern with Hong Min-gi multiple times, only to be dismissed. She said she confirmed the pregnancy herself in the early hours of July 11 or 12 at Hong Min-gi's residence, contacted him immediately, and that his reaction was dismissive and distressing. On July 13, she said, she went to a gynecology clinic alone and underwent an termination procedure. She said she retained medical records and an ultrasound image as evidence.

She also alleged that Hong Min-gi pushed for a breakup shortly after the procedure, cutting off contact and refusing to respond when she asked him to remain present while she recovered.

Fable Company denied the pregnancy-related claims specifically. In a formal statement released on August 20, the agency said A had never shown Hong Min-gi a pregnancy test, that he had never made any statement urging her to terminate the pregnancy, and that the ultrasound photo she eventually sent him, in a message on the morning of August 19, was the first time he had seen any such image. The agency noted the ultrasound appeared to differ from standard pregnancy documentation and said it would have the image reviewed by a medical professional before submitting it as evidence. The agency also pointed out that on July 13, the date A claimed she had the procedure, she had reportedly sent Hong Min-gi a video of herself cycling alone after he declined an invitation to go riding together, a detail the agency said contradicted her account of that day.

A went further on August 20, posting additional photographs she said showed bruising on her arms and legs, along with descriptions of specific alleged incidents of physical contact she characterized as assault. She also shared what she described as a video clip showing herself in a vulnerable state being mocked. The man whose face is not visible in the clip is the one she identifies as Hong Min-gi, though that cannot be independently verified from the footage. She also published excerpts of a messaging exchange she said was with Hong Min-gi, in which she references the positive pregnancy test and his alleged failure to respond when she sought emergency medical care on a separate occasion.

By August 20, the situation had shifted. Fable Company said it would stop issuing public rebuttals and proceed directly with legal action. A announced the same: she deleted her posts, including the ultrasound image and medical records, and wrote that she would no longer update her personal social media on the matter. "I will file a complaint and make sure proper accountability is established through the courts," she wrote.

The specific claims on both sides remain unverified. What is clear is that two parties with sharply different accounts of the same relationship have each concluded that further public argument is no longer useful. The case will now be assessed through legal proceedings, where the medical records, messaging logs, and video footage each side says it holds will be subject to formal scrutiny.
