BLACKPINK's Jennie Posts a Bikini Selfie and Reveals the Cold Plunge Habit Behind It
Jennie posted a photo set captioned "things that make me smile" on the 15th, including a black bikini selfie. Her past Vogue comments on cold plunges and self-care add context.

On the 15th, BLACKPINK's Jennie posted a set of everyday photos on social media under the caption "things that make me smile," and the black bikini selfie in the batch quickly became the talking point. The pictures show a relaxed, unstyled side of the singer, a contrast to the polished image she carries on stage.

In the selfie, Jennie wears a black bikini and a clean, simple look. Another shot has her in a sleeveless top, playfully holding a small butterfly prop to her nose. Even in casual snapshots, her fashion sense and presence came through.

Fan reaction on Korean portal comment sections was mixed in tone but mostly lighthearted. The top comment drew 117 upvotes, and several others joked about her slim frame or said she looks approachable and down-to-earth. Others said she still looks youthful every time she posts.

The wellness philosophy behind the photos
Jennie has described her approach to her body as "healthy body and self-care." In a March interview last year with Vogue Korea, she talked about preparing for the stage. She said it is important to feel good beforehand, keep a healthy body and do things that let her take care of herself.
One recovery method she has tried firsthand is the cold plunge. In a wellness interview with Vogue US published in November 2024, she said she started cold plunging after pushing her body hard during tour rehearsals. She tied the habit to Korean sauna culture: she went to saunas almost every day, so a cold dip right after felt natural. When she began plunging during rehearsals, she said, she was a little startled at first but felt aches and stiffness disappear almost immediately. She called it a reset button for the body.

What research says about cold water
There is some evidence behind the appeal. A 2022 Cochrane systematic review analyzed 17 small studies with 366 participants in total, and found some evidence that immersing in cold water after exercise may reduce later muscle soreness compared with rest alone.
Caution still applies. The American Heart Association warns that sudden entry into cold water can sharply raise breathing rate, heart rate and blood pressure, and people with cardiovascular conditions in particular should be careful.
