Tao Denied Surrogacy in 2025 but Never Addressed Birth, Then a Toddler Appeared

Xu Shiyang, wife of ex-EXO member Tao, posted a sunset beach video on the 15th showing the couple holding a child's hands, and the internet did the math immediately. Neither of them had ever announced a pregnancy or a birth.

Shiyang captioned the clip with a line about the setting sun crossing the sea and the person she loves being beside her. Netizens focused on the child instead. Comments noted that the kid can walk and jump, which points to at least two years old. Others just wrote some version of "already this big?"

The trail people are now re-reading

Fans dug up Tao's proposal from April 2024, filmed during a TV shoot. In that footage, they argue, Shiyang wears loose clothing and appears to have a rounded stomach, which they read as a sign she was already pregnant.

A netizen also claimed to have seen the couple at an obstetrics clinic in Los Angeles in August 2024. Chinese netizens separately say she was spotted shopping for baby supplies that year, and that she gave birth in the US before the couple's wedding in December 2024.

Then there is the live stream from October 2024. Tao started to tell viewers to spend time with family, his wife and his children, then changed it to "spend time with your brother." Fans clocked it.

The statement that left a gap

In June last year, a Chinese paparazzi account alleged that Shiyang's mother and a nanny carried a baby into the basement parking lot of Tao's home. The couple responded through a lawyer. The statement denied the surrogacy rumor, but it said nothing about whether Shiyang had given birth.

That omission is why this keeps circulating. One popular reaction says the story blew up because the couple had claimed there was no child, then were exposed in a way commenters found very typical of the Chinese celebrity gossip cycle. Others simply asked when she gave birth, and some pointed out the child would be about three.

Who Tao is

Tao debuted in EXO in 2012. In 2015 he sued SM Entertainment over his exclusive contract and went back to China. He lost the suit but kept working there. Dating rumors with Shiyang, a former SM trainee, began in 2020. The couple confirmed the relationship in 2024 and married that December.

Neither Tao nor Shiyang has commented on the child since the video went up.
