Jennie Wraps Up 7-Festival Global Run With Summer Sonic Headline Slots in Tokyo and Osaka
BLACKPINK's Jennie headlined Summer Sonic 2026 in Tokyo and Osaka on August 14 and 16, closing out a year that saw her top the bill at seven major international festivals across four continents. She performed hits including 'Mantra' and 'like JENNIE' alongside an unreleased new track, sharing headline billing with acts like The Strokes and Jamiroquai.

BLACKPINK's Jennie capped off the most extensive global festival run of her solo career by headlining Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan, performing at Tokyo's Zozo Marine Stadium and Makuhari Messe on August 14, then closing out the Osaka leg at Expo '70 Commemorative Park on August 16.

At the Tokyo stop, she anchored the finale of the MOUNTAIN Stage, performing fan favorites Mantra and like JENNIE alongside a preview of an as-yet-unreleased new track. The Osaka set followed the same headline format, with Jennie sharing top-of-bill status with The Strokes, Jamiroquai, and L'Arc-en-Ciel across the festival's 25th-anniversary edition.

The Summer Sonic dates brought her 2026 festival tally to seven. The run started in New York at Governors Ball, then moved to Roskilde in Denmark, Open'er Festival in Poland, Mad Cool 2026 in Spain, Lollapalooza Chicago, and now Summer Sonic in Japan. Across those stops, she has appeared as a headline act at each one, a feat that would be notable for any artist and is especially striking for a K-pop soloist operating outside a full group promotional cycle.
Her chart momentum has kept pace with the touring schedule. The collaboration with Tame Impala, Dracula, has spent 11 weeks inside the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and held the number-one spot on the Mediabase Hot AC Radio chart for five consecutive weeks. A more recent solo single, Less than a Lover, released last month, has also charted well domestically and internationally.
To mark her Summer Sonic appearance, a pop-up store called JENNIE SUMMER is running at Daikanyama T-SITE in Tokyo through August 18.
On a less welcome note, her agency OA Entertainment (ODDATELIER) confirmed that AI-manipulated videos falsely depicting Jennie were circulating online after her festival appearances, with some of the clips accumulating significant view counts. The agency has not yet issued a formal public statement on the matter as of the time of publication.
With the festival circuit behind her, attention will likely turn to what comes next for Jennie's solo catalog, Dracula's radio staying power and the teased new material at Summer Sonic suggest there is more on the way before the year ends.
