The account that first posted a manipulated video of BLACKPINK's Jennie at Summer Sonic 2026 has been suspended, and her label OA Entertainment is making clear that the suspension is just the opening move.

On August 14, Jennie headlined Summer Sonic 2026 at ZOZO Marine Stadium and Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, making history as the first Korean solo artist to headline the festival. She followed that with a second date in Osaka on the 16th. During the Tokyo performance, she was visibly dealing with a wardrobe issue throughout the set, adjusting her top, alerting staff to an equipment problem, and at one point addressing the audience directly to explain that the heat and sweat had caused a clothing malfunction.

The moment itself was public and undisputed. What came after it was not.

After the concert, footage circulated on social media that appeared to show partial exposure during one of Jennie's jumps, slowed down and looped. OA Entertainment says at least some of that footage was manipulated using AI or editing software to make the scene look different from what actually occurred on stage. The video, posted on the 15th, crossed 12.5 million views within half a day. Sexual harassment and degrading comments followed the spread, compounding the damage.

On the 18th, OA Entertainment put out an official statement that did not leave much room for interpretation. The label said it has been monitoring "baseless defamation, false information, malicious editing and processing of photos and videos, and violations of privacy and personal rights" targeting Jennie across online communities and social platforms. It confirmed that civil and criminal proceedings are already underway, coordinated with outside legal counsel who have been collecting evidence.

The label was also specific about what counts as a violation: not just the original post, but repeated resharing, re-uploading clips, and attaching abusive or false content to existing footage. The statement closed with the line that is getting the most attention: "There will be no settlements and no leniency in this process."

The legal basis for the action sits in South Korea's Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, which covers the creation, synthesis, and distribution of manipulated video content using a real person's face or body without consent. The law applies whether the manipulation is AI-generated or done through conventional editing.

Meanwhile, Jennie reflected on the summer in a post on her social media after wrapping her festival run. She wrote that there had been "many unexpected moments, both good and hard ones," and that "not everything can be perfect", a statement that reads a little differently now given what followed. Her new EP drops at the end of August.
