Ongoing Protests Force JO1 to Cancel Upcoming Seoul Concert

JO1's highly anticipated concert, "JO1 Wonder Show 2026: AEN Limited Edition in Seoul," set for September 26-27 at the Ticket Link Live Arena in Seoul, has been officially canceled. Rapone Entertainment announced the decision on their website on August 3, expressing their apologies to fans eagerly awaiting the event.

The cancellation stems from ongoing "ballot box blockade protests" that have persisted since June, triggered by a shortage of voting materials during the nationwide local elections. These protests have significantly affected the safety and operational conditions near the venue, hindering the ability to hold a normal concert. Rapone stated, "After careful consideration of the situation surrounding the venue and the necessary operational requirements, we deemed it very difficult to proceed as planned."

In light of these protests, several other scheduled performances in the area have also been impacted, including those of popular artists like U-Know Yunho from TVXQ and the band N.Flying, both of whom moved their concerts to different venues to ensure safety. Rapone has assured fans that any personal data collected for the fan club's pre-sale will be promptly disposed of in accordance with relevant regulations.

JO1, a nine-member global boy group formed through a Japanese audition program and under CJ ENM's label Rapone Entertainment, was set to connect with Korean fans during this concert. The recent trend of cancellations and venue changes underscores the broader impact of societal issues on the K-pop industry, a reality that continues to evolve as artists and fans navigate these unexpected challenges.
