Kim Soo-hyun is returning to the public stage in a real, scheduled way. His agency Golden Medallist confirmed on the 10th that the actor will appear as a special guest on Mahakarya RCTI 37, a live broadcast special marking the 37th anniversary of Indonesian private network RCTI, set to air on the 23rd local time in Jakarta.

The appearance will include a special stage performance alongside Indonesian actors and a sit-down interview segment. It is the first confirmed official public schedule for Kim Soo-hyun since the controversy that put his career on pause last year, and it signals that his team is now moving forward with some confidence.

The backdrop to the hiatus matters. In March 2024, a YouTube channel known as Garo Sero Research Institute (가세연) posted videos citing a call with the family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron, making allegations that Kim Soo-hyun had dated her while she was a minor and claiming his financial pressure on her contributed to her death. Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference to acknowledge the relationship but maintained it began only after Kim Sae-ron had reached adulthood, and he argued that recordings released by her family had been manipulated using AI.

Kim Sae-ron's family filed a complaint with police in May 2024 under the Child Welfare Act, but authorities closed the case without charges. The channel's director, Kim Se-eui, was arrested in June 2025 on suspicion of spreading false information about the actor and has since been referred to prosecutors. Kim Soo-hyun's resumption of activities followed shortly after that arrest.

His comeback is being built deliberately through international markets. He recently signed on as a model for Philippine clothing brand BENCH, appearing in a campaign video, and has a fan meeting scheduled for October 2 in the Philippines with a reported capacity of 20,000. The Jakarta broadcast special is the first piece of that strategy to go public as a live, in-person event.

For fans who have been watching closely, the RCTI appearance is less about the program itself and more about what it represents: Kim Soo-hyun back on a stage, in front of cameras, doing the work.
