Lee Young Ji arrived at Waterbomb Sokcho 2026 on the 22nd with freshly dyed orange hair, a full face of makeup, and the kind of easy confidence that comes from finally liking what you see in the mirror. While waiting in her car ahead of the stage, she posted a selfie to her social media with the caption "I'm genuinely suddenly orange today," followed by a short video in which she checks herself out on camera and breaks into a wide smile.

The clips were light and casual, but for fans who have followed her journey over the past few months, they carried a little more weight than a typical pre-show selfie.

The procedure she spent four years deciding on

Back in April, Lee Young Ji made headlines when she stepped onto the stage at the SEVENTEEN unit concert DxS [소야곡] ON STAGE at Inspire Arena in Incheon wearing sunglasses, then paused to explain herself. "I have one thing to say," she told the crowd. "I wasn't being disrespectful by wearing sunglasses to my seniors' concert. I had under-eye fat repositioning done." She added that she was grateful the SEVENTEEN members understood and hoped no one would misread the gesture.

After the concert, she elaborated on a fan communication platform. "I debated whether it would look like I was recommending plastic surgery," she wrote, "but I decided to be honest." She described it as a decision four years in the making: people had constantly asked whether she was tired when she wasn't, and that recurring comment had worn on her. She was clear that this was a one-time thing. "First and last in my life. I won't do anything else going forward."

The festival itself, held at Hanwha Resort Seorak Sorano in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, lived up to its reputation. After finishing her set, Lee Young Ji posted one more photo: wet hair pulled back, visibly drained, with the caption "Waterbomb is genuinely so exhausting and so good." The image said everything a caption didn't need to.

Off stage, she is currently appearing on the tvN variety show Wooju Tteokjip, the second spinoff of the Ppyong Ppyong Earth Arcade franchise. The show follows Lee Eun-ji, Mimi, Lee Young Ji, and Ahn Yu-jin as they get roped into running a rice cake shop, covering everything from making tteok to cooking full dishes in what the production describes as a forced-employment food adventure.
