A2O Lite Topped Melon's Top 100 Before Any Music Show Stage or Physical Album

A2O Lite's debut song NEON reached No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 chart on October 14, one day after its October 13 digital release. That is faster than any of the three other recent debut songs a Korean fan community compared it with: NewJeans' Attention, ILLIT's Magnetic and ALLDAY Project's Famous.

The comparison comes from a post on the community site Instiz, which lined up the release date and first Top 100 #1 date for each song. The gaps, by those dates, work out as follows.

The early indicator here is the speed. A first-day #1 on Melon, Korea's largest streaming platform, points to listening well beyond a launch-week fandom, and the ceiling for a debut with that start is high.

Commenters kept returning to how little A2O Lite had done to earn the position. One pointed out that the group had not yet performed on any music show and had no physical album out, and called the buzz startling. Others simply congratulated the group or said they liked every song in the lineup.

The thread also added some context. One user asked whether Plot Twist had also hit #1; another replied that it reached #2 and finished first on the yearly chart. A separate comment noted that Magnetic is still charting now, a reminder that a fast start and a long run are different measures.

That second measure is the one to track. Whether NEON holds a top position through the coming weeks, and through the group's first music show stages, will say more than the first-day result. Based on this start, a long stay near the top of the chart is a reasonable bet.
