Hyun Bin's 'Made in Korea' Season 2 Gets a 3-Part Webtoon Covering the 9 Years You Never Saw

Disney+ has released a three-part prequel webtoon for Made in Korea Season 2 on Kakao Page, filling in the nine years of story that neither season directly tells. The webtoon focuses on Baek Gi-tae, played by Hyun Bin in the series, and traces how he came to position himself at the center of power between the events of Seasons 1 and 2.

Made in Korea is a noir thriller set in the turbulent 1970s. Hyun Bin plays Baek Gi-tae, a man who spends his days as a Central Intelligence Agency operative and his nights running a smuggling operation. Jung Woo-sung plays Jang Geon-yeong, a relentless prosecutor determined to bring him down. The tension between those two figures drove the first season.

Season 2, set nine years later, picks up with Baek Gi-tae pursuing far larger ambitions, described as an unbridled drive fueled by even greater desire. The prequel webtoon slots directly into that gap, mapping out the shifts in key characters and how their relationships evolved during the years the show skips over.

Webtoon author Lee Mu-gi contributed to the project. Lee is already attached to a separate Disney+ series adaptation of their webtoon I Am the Sinner, currently scheduled to premiere next year, making this a notable connection between two upcoming productions on the platform.

Made in Korea Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ in September.
