Moon Geun-young broke her marriage news on her own terms. On the 29th, the actress posted a handwritten letter to her personal social media account, writing that she had found someone with whom she wanted to share roads she had always walked alone, someone who could laugh with her over the smallest things. Her agency, Cree Company, confirmed the announcement the same day: the groom is actor Jeong Pyeong, age 46, a stage performer seven years her senior.

The wedding itself was as understated as the relationship had been. Rather than a formal ceremony, the couple marked the occasion with a quiet family dinner attended by both sides. Even close friends were reportedly unaware the two had been dating, let alone that a wedding was imminent. Moon announced the marriage only after it had already taken place, a sequence that felt deliberate and entirely in character.

In her letter, Moon described Jeong as someone she wanted beside her through the solitary hours, the private doubts, the ordinary moments worth sharing. She closed by asking fans for celebration over concern, and promised to show up for them, in work and in life, more fully than ever.

Jeong Pyeong, born in 1980, debuted in 2007 and has spent the bulk of his career on Seoul's theater and musical stages. His credits include Aida, Laundry (Ppallae), Radio Star, Agatha, and the play Eden Hair Salon. The two crossed paths through Bachi, the creative collective Moon led as director, where they worked together on projects that included a short film she both wrote and directed. Jeong also had a role in the tvN drama Ghost Detective, which starred Moon, and multiple sources identify that shared creative space, rather than any single production, as where the relationship took root.

For longtime fans, the pairing carries a certain logic. Moon has spoken openly about how much the Bachi collective meant to her, a space where actors engaged with work as something to be thought through together rather than just performed. Jeong was a core member of that circle. The relationship, by all accounts, grew out of exactly that kind of sustained, low-key artistic trust.

Moon Geun-young, 39, began her career in 1999 with the film On the Road and became a household name through the drama Autumn in My Heart, where she played the childhood version of Song Hye-kyo's character. She built on that foundation with the horror film A Tale of Two Sisters, the romantic comedy My Little Bride, and the SBS period drama Painter of the Wind, for which she won a top acting prize in 2008. Roles in Cinderella's Sister, Mary Stayed Out All Night, Cheongdam-dong Alice, and more recently Hellbound 2 extended a career that spans nearly three decades.

She has also navigated significant personal challenges along the way. In 2017, Moon was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome, a rare condition in which pressure within the muscles builds to dangerous levels, and underwent four surgeries before making a full recovery. The marriage news, coming after that period and after her recent stage return in the play Orphans, has drawn an especially warm response. She has also completed filming on director Yeon Sang-ho's upcoming film Yeto.

For her part, Moon ended her letter with a line that landed quietly but clearly: she would work, and live, as hard as the love she has been given. Online, fans responded with messages of congratulations and the general sentiment that this was exactly the kind of announcement Moon Geun-young would make. Dignified, a little surprising, and entirely her own.
