Seungri, former member of BIGBANG, is under fire after being accused of assaulting a 30-something man just weeks ago. A series of photos believed to be from August 8, the day of the alleged incident, depict him jovially celebrating with friends, raising eyebrows and sparking conversations among fans. The images show him smiling brightly in a bar, wearing a black cap and T-shirt, while surrounded by birthday cakes, side dishes, and bottles of soju. Fans couldn't help but comment, questioning, "Why does he always attract trouble? Was someone bothering him?"

On September 10, it was revealed that the Seoul Gangnam Police received a complaint against Seungri, accusing him of assault after an incident at a restaurant. The police are currently investigating what occurred that day. Seungri elaborated on his side of the story, expressing his regret and bewilderment over the incident. He stated that he was dining with two acquaintances when an inebriated patron, referred to as Mr. A, unexpectedly asked to join their table.

The conflict unfolds

Seungri described rejecting Mr. A's request multiple times, insisting on maintaining personal space. However, as the night progressed, tensions escalated leading to a sudden altercation. He recounted, “Eventually, we did sit together, had drinks and exchanged numbers, yet soon after, something shifted.” The former idol noted that Mr. A later texted him expressing excitement about a future business proposal, only to return hours later claiming he felt threatened and initiating legal action.

Seungri firmly denied any physical threat, stating, “I only held a bottle while expressing my desire not to sit together. I never swung it or threatened anyone.” He highlighted that Mr. A even escorted him to his car, showing friendliness shortly after the alleged incident.

The former boy band star mentioned he possesses evidence, such as message exchanges, restaurant CCTV footage, and statements from witnesses, asserting he might counter-sue for false allegations. He maintained that the situation was bewildering, especially given the rapid shift in Mr. A’s demeanor. Seungri has expressed a commitment to cooperate with the investigation, hoping to clear his name.

A tumultuous history

Seungri’s past is marred by the infamous Burning Sun scandal in 2019, which led to his retirement from the entertainment industry. Accused of multiple crimes, including embezzlement and facilitating illicit information exchange, he received a 1.5-year prison sentence. He was released in February 2023 but has continued to find himself in precarious situations since then.
